Slight Risk of Severe Thunderstorms in the Midwest Today or Tonight
What to Expect
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms for portions of the Midwest today and tonight.
The main threats from these storms will be large hail and damaging winds. There is also a slight risk of tornadoes.
Storms are most likely to develop this afternoon and evening.

The following areas are included in the Slight Risk:
- Southern Minnesota
- Iowa
- Northern Missouri
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Ohio
Safety Tips
If you are in an area that is at risk for severe thunderstorms, take the following precautions:
- Be aware of the weather forecast and be prepared to take shelter if necessary.
- Have a plan for where you will go if a tornado warning is issued.
- If you are outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building.
- Stay away from windows and doors.
- If you are driving, pull over to the side of the road and wait out the storm.
